Language Through Colour

At Newingate School, we are proud to introduce Language Through Colour, an evidence-based English resource designed to support pupils in developing clear, confident sentence structure.

This approach uses colour-coding to help students understand how language works, making the building blocks of communication more visual, accessible, and engaging.

Although Language Through Colour is taught primarily within English lessons, it also plays an important role across the whole curriculum.

Our staff model and reinforce the colour system in all subjects, helping pupils to make connections, deepen understanding, and communicate their ideas more effectively.

By using a consistent colour-coded approach in every lesson, we help pupils build confidence in how they understand and use language.

This shared framework supports them to organise their ideas, take part in learning more independently, and express themselves clearly in both spoken and written work.
